1.) Is coaching counseling or therapy? No. Although there are similar approaches to problem solving and goal setting and achievement, coaching does not involve diagnosis or treatment, two major tenets of therapy. There is no 3rd party billing for coaching. 2.) How do I know if coaching is what I need? Try it out. I offer a free initial session to allow you to dip your toe in the water to see if your situation is one you'd like to work on with me. It is very important that you feel comfortable with the coach you choose. 3.) Do we meet in person? Although that is a possibility for people who live near me, this work is done over the phone at times that suit your schedule. 4.) How often do we get together? This depends on your particular need. I offer the possibility of setting up a monthly schedule where we can start once a week and spread it out as we proceed and you succeed. 5.) Does it have to be business related? No, although I have a leadership background, I have also been formally trained to work on relationship and family issues. Again, this would not be therapy, but looking at your particular situation and developing a custom-made plan for you to succeed. 6.) How do I know if I'm ready for all this? We can look at the stages of change and see where you are. We then plan accordingly so you can move through the process at your own rate. You are not in this to please me, or move at a rate I think you should do. That does not mean I do not hold you accountable as you set your rate. 7.) Is coaching just holding me accountable? Accountability is a portion of what we will do, but it also includes having a guide, a mentor, a cheerleader at times, someone to plan with and assess strategy. You do not want a cookie cutter approach to your situation. That makes it very important that your individuality takes center stage.
